Leo Wesseler reports: My first experiences in the trade π¨
This time, Leo Wesseler talks about his impressions from the field. The first-year apprentice gained valuable experience on assembly sites: For example, he installed an interior door independently on a construction site. He also set up a bench at Drilandsee in Gronau, where Terhalle completed an impressive construction project. πͺ
At school, Leo says he was surprised “that there was quite a lot of drawing – with the drawing board or for planning a workpiece, from start to finish”. Background: Particularly exciting for him: the budding journeyman carpenter is thinking about studying architecture, and these drawing basics come in very handy. π¨βππ
Leo is very versatile in the wooden window production department in Ottenstein. Sometimes he works on the stop, where seals are inserted into sashes and frames and aluminum cladding is attached. Then it’s off to the surface treatment area, where window frames are sanded and painted. ποΈπͺπͺ΅
His conclusion: Anyone who enjoys working creatively and independently and is looking for an apprenticeship that promotes both craftsmanship and planning skills should take a closer look at the carpentry or joinery profession.
